Printer-Friendly Edition Launch
Alright, so I've posted my first card game. What's next?
Well, there are a few things that aren't great about it, and a bunch of other things which make me exceedingly excited. So excited, in fact, that I jitter like the Flash, or like Fry in a universe where his hundredth cup of coffee was denied. I am far more excited than bothered.
I will update this version before December 2024.
If the September-October Kickstarter fails (unlikely, but let's remain realistic), then I plan to ask people on my Discord for random names and will fill out all the Human names and leave things be. I will move on to the next project or reassess. Either way, this can be a good thing, I suppose, depending on the quality you'd prefer.
When the Kickstarter succeeds, however, things become far more interesting. Every card will have its Kickstartered name and the Printer-Friendly Edition will get a number of updates:
- Kickstarter names on every Human card!
- Less black, more grey! I will pay attention!
- Those pesky borders that look... so suboptimal? Yeah. They get REDONE!
- Did the Kickstarter Kick an Expansion or two?
Note first that I will not be adding Kickstarter-exclusive cards to the Printer-Friendly version. These will be the D&D characters or just humble hat-tips that people who pay for the physical will receive. Nor will any Kickstarter bonus be made available on Itch.io.
That being said, if the Kickstarter kicks an Expansion* (or two! Why stop there?), I will (eventually) post them up on Itch for $2 or $5. That'll take a while, despite the artist being very reliable.
The cost of the base game, once all updates are put together, will probably go up at that point. Not by much -- $2 at the most.
And that's the plan. Kickstarter in September/October 2024. The Itch.io version updated before 2025. Physical rewards out to backer 6-12 months after campaign completion. And I'm a bit washy on the Expansions, but that's okay. Then a new project.
There's a lot between now and then, and I'll probably update here (and here and here) for my Fallcon appearance in August, and my Expo showing in September.
Until then, survive, my friends! Live whence Darkness Falls and thrive.

*The expansions increase the player count with thematic expansions. These are more like add-ons than DLC. That's what the custom cards you can print are for :-)
